The conception

Mayamul is a handmade jewelry ecommerce brand that was born from a passion for bracelets and a family trip to Merida, Mexico. The founders, while sitting at the dinner table after a few tacos and drinks, discussed their long-time interest and passion for jewelry and decided to try and create their own design. After browsing the local markets in Merida and being inspired by the natural stone beads and Mayan heritage, the trial and error began. The founders were determined to create bracelets with the right proportions and symmetrical silhouette that would allow anyone to mix and match with other bracelets and watches.

The Mayans were an ancient civilization that flourished in parts of modern-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras between 2000 BCE and 900 CE. They developed a complex society with advanced architecture, mathematical and astronomical systems, and a written language. They had a rich culture and history, and their civilization left behind impressive architectural and artistic achievements. The Mayans were also known for their use of natural resources, such as jade and obsidian, in their art and jewelry.

Today we know it as - Mayamul. 'Maya'. 

Origins of the word MAYAMUL

The name MayaMul is a combination of the words "Maya" representing the region that gave birth to the idea, and "Mul" meaning "society" in Yucatec Mayan, chosen by the founders as they wanted to create something that had a bigger meaning and impact than just another bracelet brand. Today, MayaMul continues to be inspired by the beauty of nature, locally sourced materials and the Mayan heritage, creating unique and meaningful jewelry pieces for their customers.
